Not down with the sickness

[Another day of work done. Zhao made sure everything was put away and locked up before being the last to leave. Almost as though that were a signal, whatever strength that had been powering him through the day abruptly vanished.

Fuck. He'd been trying to stave this off, but he could feel sickness beginning to dog him. It's why he'd kept the cat at home; he didn't have the strength to really play with her and chase her around outside. His body felt heavy and his throat scratchy.

It wasn't often that he could track how fast sickness took him, but the 15 minute stroll from his place to the restaurant took 30 minutes. As soon as he walked in, he set his keys aside, took off his shoes, locked the door and face planted into the couch.

He should probably take something for whatever was currently bitchslapping him, but he was too exhausted to care. Joon-gi Han would be home soon, so he'd have to make dinner. Maybe he'd just nap until then....]

Settling in

[Weeks of lost sleep, bottle feeding and kitten care had done wonders for little Chun Li. She was still on the small side, but could tear around the apartment, enjoyed playing with her toys and even learned to fistbump. If you liked having your fist patted with a kitten paw.

The gang hadn't minded a few nights of bottlefeeding since the kitten was so easy to love. But the feedings turned to weaning on solid food and the restoration of a sleep schedule.

Other changes were taking place in the apartment. Joon-gi's things were more easily integrated with Zhao's. Everyone in their friend circle noticed how close they were becoming, teasing them a bit for it. Most of all, Zhao sat on the couch, playing with the kitten and looking over with interest as Joon-gi made dinner. He didn't know what all it would involve, but there was rice.

Someone else cooking for me? That's hot, he thought. But he promised to be good and not hover.]

Smells good, whatever it is. You need me to set the table or...?

A new family addition

[Rain pattered against the windows at a steady rate. It made a nice backdrop to the soundscape of Zhao's apartment. The rice cooker chirped pleasantly, miso soup burbled on the stove and the clink of dishware all harmonized and emphasized that a meal would be forthcoming.

Zhao whistled a little tune as he got everything ready. He'd opted for more traditional Japanese this time around, but had an extra dish of grilled chicken for his boyfriend's extra protein needs. He eyed the rain beginning to increase outside. Joon-gi Han would be perfectly fine in his coat, but it was going to leave a mess.

He eyed some of his more threadbare towels, wondering which he could throw on the floor to sit under the sopping coat when he heard the door unlock.]

Hey, baby, you made it just in time for dinner.
